First case of zika related birth-defect discovered in world

Zika is a member of virus family of Flaviviridae. It is spread by daytime active Aedes mosquitoes. It is primarily spread by female mosquitoes. It can be transmitted from men and women to their partners. 

Now, first case of Zika related birth-defect discovered in Mexico. It is discovered from studies that birth defect known as microcephaly is detected in new born babies. Mexico’s health ministry has confirmed the first case of a Zika-related severe birth defect known as microcephaly causing abnormally small head.

From November 2016 there has been more than 7000 confirmed cases of Zika virus has been detected in Mexico. This virus has been spread in Latin America and Caribbean since 2015.
